SOLDADOS AMERICANOS E O IMENSO CAMPO DE MACONHA DO AFGANISTÃO

What dopes! Photographs of American soldiers posing with marijuana in Afghanistan trigger military investigation

Having stumbled upon a vast marijuana field during a patrol in Afghanistan, a group of American soldiers thought it would be a good idea to photograph themselves posing shamelessly while brandishing their weapons among the plants.
However, their 'trophy snaps' taken in Kabul while apparently on duty have now landed them at the center of a military investigation.
The men in full uniform, who have not been identified, are pictured in the images holding the cannabis and standing besides the towering plants.
The photos obtained by TMZ.com do not identify the soldiers or when the pics were taken.

The set of photographs, obtained by TMZ, do not identify the men who appear to be American soldiers or say when they were taken.
Although the soldiers are NOT pictured smoking the marijuana, they do remove the plants and use it to decorate the inside of their military vehicle as shown in one photograph.

U.S. Army officials told TMZ that the situation is 'being looked into' and added: 'The U.S. military takes allegations of drug possession, transfer, distribution, and use very seriously.'
The baseball caps two of the soldiers are pictured wearing could may also be a problem as soldiers are not allowed to wear non-military issue headgear.

Afghan anti-drug units, aided by international security forces, have resulted in a huge increase in the number of drug seizures in the country over the 12 months.
In the past soldier taking 'trophy photographs' have found themselves in trouble.
Soldiers have previously come under fire for posing with what appeared to be an SS Nazi flag, another soldier was pictured with the symbol etched into his rifle.
In a more serious incident, images of U.S soldiers posing with dead Afghan civilians caused international outrage last March.
